There are just 3 eligibility requirements:

Be a Canadian citizen or permanent Canadian resident

Answer “No” to: “Have you been diagnosed with a life expectancy of 24 months or less, or are you in the hospital or terminally ill?”
Under this plan, there are no medical requirements to get coverage, and you cannot be denied for coverage due to health issues if you meet the above criteria.

Rates are guaranteed to stay fixed throughout the duration of the policy.
Rates are dependent only on coverage amount, age, gender, and smoking status. Your health condition or health history has no effect on your premiums.
Coverage amount
Excelsior plan offers coverage from $5,000 up to $50,000 for ages 18-70 and $5,000 to $25,000 for ages 71-80
Complimentary Accidental Death Benefit
Your policy includes an Accidental Death Benefit at no additional cost, which triples your coverage amount if the policy is acquired before you turn 71. This means, should an accident occur, your benefit would increase from the original coverage of $50,000 to an enhanced $150,000.
